The National Teaching Council (NTC) has detailed a guide for teacher trainees who have paid their Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) indexing fees but have not yet received the usual confirmation SMS.

The GTLE indexing process is a crucial requirement for final-year teacher trainees, ensuring that every candidate is properly documented and cleared to take the licensure examination — a gateway into the teaching profession.

In recent weeks, several trainees have raised concerns about SMS delays after making payments.

According to the NTC, such delays are usually technical and do not necessarily indicate any problem with a trainee’s application.

However, the Council advises candidates to take the following steps to confirm their indexing status and resolve any issues promptly:

Verify Your Payment

Begin by ensuring your payment was successful.

Trainees should double-check their payment receipts and confirm the transaction number.

If the payment was incomplete or failed, the indexing process will not be finalized.

Use Your Transaction Number

For trainees who did not receive the SMS, the transaction number(ID) can be used to log into the NTC indexing portal at https://indexing.ntc.gov.gh.

This allows candidates to review and verify whether their personal details were captured accurately.

Check Indexing Status

While on the NTC portal, use the “Check Indexing Status” feature.

This option confirms whether your indexing information is active in the NTC system, even if the SMS notification has not yet been sent.

Contact NTC Support

If, after completing the steps above, your status is still unclear or errors appear on your profile, the NTC encourages direct contact with its support team.

The Council has provided the following helplines for assistance:

Toll-Free Number: 0800000772 /Additional Lines: 0302750420 / 0551858585

The NTC reassures trainees that the indexing system is designed to protect the integrity of the teacher preparation process nationwide.

SMS delays are often the result of high traffic during peak registration periods, and following these verification steps will ensure that no trainee is disadvantaged.

As final-year teacher trainees across the country prepare for the reformed GTLE, this advisory serves as an important reminder to confirm indexing early to avoid last-minute complications before registration deadlines.

The Council remains committed to supporting candidates through every stage of the licensing process to strengthen the quality of education delivery in Ghana.
