Accustomed to commencing their national service on a promising note, newly trained teachers encountered unexpected obstacles when they reported to their regional offices on March 18, 2024 to commence their regional verifications.
The centers, unfortunately, faced internet-related challenges that hindered the smooth progression of the exercise.
For those lucky enough to have the process completed in some of the centers, a surprising demand awaited them – the personnel were allegely compelled to register for a new E-zwich card with GT-Bank, regardless of possessing a valid card from other banks.
Astonishingly, this registration came at a fee.

Caught off guard by this unexpected requirement, some personnel scrambled to acquire the new card, even though they had perfectly functioning cards from other banks that could have fulfilled the registration requirement.
The personnel, disenchanted by the situation, conveyed their displeasure to Coleman Publications, expressing their confusion over the lack of proper explanation or justification for this imposition.

As the internet issues persisted, many personnel could not partake in the verification process, opting to return the following day with the hope of more stable network connectivity.
The NSS had initially planned for the verification exercise to be carried out from March 18th to March 31st, 2024.
However, the unforeseen challenges have inevitably caused delays and frustration among the new teachers who are eager to commence their national service smoothly.

It remains to be seen whether the National Service Secretariat will address the concerns and grievances raised by the affected personnel and provide clarity on why registration with GT-Bank is being forced upon them, especially when possessing valid cards from other banks should be considered sufficient for participation in the exercise.
