Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is an important Islamic holiday that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as an act of obedience to God.

The date of Eid-ul-Adha is determined by the lunar calendar and mostly vary slightly from country to country.

On Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims typically begin the day with special prayers held at mosques or open fields.

After prayers, they perform the ritual sacrifice of an animal, usually a goat, sheep, cow, or camel.

The meat from the sacrificed animal is then divided into three parts: one-third is given to the poor and needy, one-third is shared with relatives and friends, and one-third is kept for the family.

Eid-ul-Adha is also a time for Muslims to visit family and friends, share meals, and give to charity. Special meals, often including dishes made from the sacrificed animal, are prepared and enjoyed together.
