Students across the forty-six (46) public colleges of education in the country are facing an academic crisis as the ongoing strike by their teachers enters its fifth day.
Trainees are expressing growing concern over the impact on their studies and future careers, calling on the government to do the needful.
The strike, initiated due to the government’s failure to implement the National Labour Commission’s (NLC) Arbitral Award Orders and negotiated service conditions, has brought academic activities to a standstill.

“Our futures are at stake,” expressed one student, echoing the sentiments of many. “CETAG going on strike has become an annual occurrence, and it seems nothing is being done to prevent it. We are losing valuable time and it’s affecting our academic journey.”
Another student described the current situation as a cycle of “waking up, eating, cleaning, and sleeping,” with no academic work being done.

CETAG is demanding fair treatment and the fulfillment of government commitments, including the payment of one month’s salary for additional duties performed in 2022 and the application of agreed rates of allowances to deserving members.
CETAG’s National President, Mr. Prince Obeng-Himah has emphasized that the strike is to guarantee the economic rights of their members. And they seek nothing more than what is legally and rightfully due to them.
