The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued a ban on the use of electronic devices, including mobile phones, at examination centers for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
During a press briefing held in Accra, John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs for the Examinations Council, stated that supervisors, invigilators, and candidates are strictly prohibited from bringing mobile phones into examination halls.
He also appealed to parents to ensure that their children do not bring mobile phones to the examination centers, as the candidates’ entire results will be cancelled if found in possession of a mobile phone.
