The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT-GH) have announced plans for a peaceful demonstration in Accra on October 1st, 2024.
The demonstration aims to protest the government’s failure to fully implement their Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) signed on May 31st, 2024.
In a letter to the Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, the teacher unions expressed their “heightened level of dissatisfaction” with the government’s “calculated disregard” for portions of the agreements.

They highlighted that the government’s inaction has exacerbated the hardships faced by teachers across the country, impacting their morale and welfare.
The demonstration is expected to draw approximately 1,000 teachers, who will march from Kwame Nkrumah Circle (Obra Spot) to the Ministry of Education.
The teacher unions have pledged to ensure the protest remains peaceful and orderly, and have requested the Ghana Police Service’s collaboration to facilitate a safe environment for all participants.

They hope that the demonstration will draw attention to these critical issues and encourage the government to take action.
