The Management of the University of Ghana has announced that the 2024/2025 academic year will begin on Thursday, October 31 following the suspension of the strike action by UTAG.
Originally scheduled to start at the beginning of the month, the opening was delayed due to various labour unions, including the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), going on strike.
In a notice issued on 29th October,2024, the University of Ghana stated, “We can now announce that the 2024/2025 academic year will commence on Thursday, 31st October, 2024, with lectures starting on Monday, 4th November, 2024.”

The release also mentioned that further details of the academic year are contained in the attached calendar for undergraduate students, with calendars for other categories of students to be released soon following a similar schedule.
The Registrar of the school, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their cooperation and wished all members of the University community a fruitful academic year.
