The Management of Komenda College of Education has held a heartfelt and grand send-off ceremony to honour its retiring staff, celebrating their years of unwavering dedication and service to the institution.
The event held on February 14, 2025 at the premises of the college , was marked by gratitude, joy, and a deep sense of appreciation for the retirees’ contributions to the growth and success of the College.
During his address, the Vice Principal of the college, Dr. Theophilus Kweku Bassaw, welcomed the attendees and explained the purpose of the gathering.
Quoting from Ecclesiastes 3:1, he reminded the attendees that “there is a time for everything in life.”

His message set the tone for the event, emphasizing the significance of transitions and the importance of celebrating milestones.

In his acceptance remarks as the Chairman for the event, Mr. Enstua-Mensah, highlighted the importance of honouring individuals who have devoted their careers to the College.
He shared personal reflections on how the institution had positively impacted his academic journey, noting that many of his teachers were products of the College.

His address was followed by a stirring performance of a patriotic song by the College’s Band (Assai Band), which energized the audience and added a celebratory atmosphere to the event.
The retirees honoured during the ceremony included:
- Ms. Akua Awotwe (2004-2024)
- Ms. Evelyn Kissi (2005-2024)
- Ms. Gifty Grant (2007-2024)
- W.O Joseph Kumado (2000-2024)

Following the introduction of the retirees, attendees shared goodwill messages and speeches, expressing their appreciation and best wishes to the retirees for their years of service.
A major highlight of the event was the awards presentation, where the retirees were recognized for their outstanding contributions. Each retiree received a citation, a refrigerator, and a cash gift.
On behalf of the awardees, Mr. Joseph Kumado delivered a heartfelt response, reflecting on their time at the College and expressing gratitude for the recognition and support from the institution.

The Principal, Very Rev. Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson, delivered an inspiring speech, acknowledging the retirees’ selfless dedication.
He stated, “We have examples of people who started work but could not make it earlier than expected. Indeed, God has been faithful—Ebenezer, this is how far the Lord has brought us. We thank you so much for your selfless dedication to the College. Retirement is not tiredness; it is a new phase of life.”

The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Clement Enstua-Mensah, who thanked everyone for their presence and contributions to the success of the event.
Ms. Catherine N. A. Yamson delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organizers, guests, and retirees for making the event a memorable one.
