The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education – Ghana (PRINCOF) has addressed concerns regarding the recent challenges faced by Colleges of Education (CoE) graduates in registering for National Service.

In a statement released on February 27th, 2025, PRINCOF assured students that the issue is being taken seriously and is expected to be resolved promptly.

The challenges stem from claims by the National Service Authority (NSA) that some CoEs lack or have expired accreditation.

PRINCOF, however, refuted these claims, stating that “the claim by the NSA that certain Colleges of Education lack accreditation or have expired accreditation is inaccurate.

According to PRINCOF, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has renewed the accreditation of all Colleges of Education up to August 2028. As such, all graduates from these colleges are eligible to register for their mandatory National Service without hindrance.”

In the statement, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng, General Secretary of PRINCOF, emphasized the organization’s commitment to its students.

“We understand the concerns and frustrations of the affected students and wish to assure you that PRINCOF is taking this matter seriously,” he stated.

The statement further stated that PRINCOF, in collaboration with GTEC, is actively engaging with the NSA to address the issue.

They expressed confidence that all affected students will be granted access to complete their registration and fulfill their National Service obligations.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience or embarrassment this situation may have caused your colleges and graduates,” the statement continued.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards a resolution. Please, we wish to assure you that PRINCOF remains committed to protecting the interests of our students and ensuring a smooth transition into their National Service duties.”

PRINCOF promised to provide further updates as soon as concrete resolutions are reached with the relevant authorities.

They extended their apologies to the affected students and reiterated their unwavering support.
