Very Rev. Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson, Principal of Komenda College of Education and Associate Professor in Counselling Psychology at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been honoured with the Innovative Leadership Award at the Ghana Executive Awards 2025.

The event, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on May 16, 2025,, recognised individuals and teams whose exceptional leadership continues to contribute to the nation’s development.

Since assuming office in 2019, Prof. Wilson has significantly transformed Komenda College of Education, leading the institution into a new era of progress.

His leadership has driven advancements in faculty qualification, gender parity among students, and significant infrastructure projects

His tenure has been marked by extensive reforms in academic programs, infrastructure, staff development, financial management, agriculture, and community engagement.

  • The college has witnessed a substantial rise in faculty qualifications, with over 20 staff members pursuing doctoral degrees.
  • Gender parity among students has nearly been achieved, fostering inclusivity and equal opportunities in education.
  • Strategic projects such as the Early Childhood Centre, research farms, and the Brew Sam-Creedy-Komeh-Ababio Memorial Lectures have strengthened community ties and enriched student experiences.
  • Agricultural innovation, including coconut and palm plantations, piggery, fish farming, and apiculture, has secured the college’s land and enriched its curriculum, integrating sustainability into educational programs.
Prof. Wilson’s recognition comes as a testament to his remarkable contributions to education and community development.
