The National Coalition of Colleges of Education Graduate Unemployed Teachers 2023-year group has issued a strong call to the Ministry of Education, demanding urgent clarity on their financial clearance and posting status.
With basic schools scheduled to reopen on September 2, the group says their patience is wearing thin as they continue to wait for communication despite meeting all requirements.
“We have fulfilled every obligation—four years of training, national service, and passing the licensure exams. Our readiness to teach should be matched with prompt action from the authorities,” the coalition stated in a press release dated August 1.
“We respectfully urge the Ministry to announce a clear roadmap on postings and financial clearance by August 5, 2025.”
Spokesperson for the group, Master Emmanuel Setsofia Soku, expressed disappointment over the silence that has followed previous assurances by the Education Minister, Hon. Haruna Iddirisu.
“We were told in June that recruitment was budgeted for and that the Ghana Education Service had submitted a request for the financial clearance. Yet here we are, weeks later, with no concrete updates,” he said.
“Where are the promised 50,000 teachers to be recruited as promised by the education minister?” he added
The group warned that failure of the Ministry to meet the August 5 deadline would force them to escalate their concerns through lawful advocacy and protests.
“We respectfully demand that the Ministry of Education take immediate action to address our concerns and provide the necessary updates by the specified deadline. Failure to do so will lead to further actions, including protests and other forms of lawful advocacy”
The coalition is urging both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance to act swiftly by updating them on the status of their recruitment.
“We kindly request that the Ministry of Education provide a clear update on our financial clearance and posting timelines by August 5, 2025.”
