Per a vote difference of one, the Colleges of Education Teachers’ Association has suspended its strike action, with immediate effect.
Eighteen(18) out of the thirty-five grassroots members (local branches) under the Colleges of Education Teachers’ Association of Ghana (CETAG) on Wednesday, 14th December 2022 voted for the association to suspend its industrial strike action for two weeks, to allow for negotiations to commence.
The majority decision follows a plea by the Ministry of Education for the strike to be called off, after a meeting with the leadership of the Association.
However, It should be noted the Strike has just been suspended and would be reactivated if the associations’ needs are not met within the stipulated time frame.
It would be recalled that on Monday, November 14, 2022, teachers at the Colleges of Education laid down their tools in protest against the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission’s unilateral action to vary CETAG’s 2021 Conditions of Service to a later date.
