Interior Minister Declares Good Friday and Easter Monday as Public Holidays

The Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, has declared Friday and Monday as public holidays to mark the religious observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

The Interior Minister’s declaration provides an opportunity for Ghanaians to celebrate the religious significance of the holiday with their families and loved ones. This year, Good Friday falls on April 7th, while Easter Monday is on April 10th.

In the statement, the Interior Minister emphasized that these public holidays are “statutory,” meaning that they are recognized by law and should be observed throughout the country. This declaration will allow workers in both the public and private sectors to take time off from their work responsibilities to celebrate the holiday and participate in religious activities.
