In what is a tragedy beyond measure, a young 13-year-old pupil, Godfred Ankomah, who attended the Swedru Methodist B primary school lost his life after being caned excessively by his own teacher.
According to reports, the boy was the victim of an intense caning by his teacher, Millicent, who was allegedly administering punishment for noise-making in the classroom and errors in assignments.
The young boy was supposed to receive only six lashes for errors in his academic assignment, but the teacher ignored his weak health condition and struck him repeatedly.
Despite warnings from other students, the teacher reportedly continued administering the punishment to little Godfred.
When Godfred returned home later that day, he developed a persistent cough, which contained traces of blood in his mucus.
His parents then rushed him to the hospital for medical attention, and he was transferred to the Winneba hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, the efforts were in vain, as the little boy passed away en route to the hospital.
