The Ministry of Education has officially released the roadmap for the 2025 Senior High School (SHS) placement process, following the publication of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results on August 23.

The Ministry has assured candidates, parents, and guardians that the 2025 placement exercise will be conducted with fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to merit.
According to the Ministry, placement into second-cycle institutions will be determined by candidates’ aggregate scores from six subjects—the four core subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies) and the two best-performing elective subjects.
In cases where candidates have identical aggregates, raw scores will be used to break the tie and determine final rankings.

According to the ministry, an explainer video has also been made available to guide candidates and guardians through the process.
Placement Is Free
The Ministry has reiterated that placement is entirely free of charge. It cautioned the public against making payments to individuals posing as officials from the Ministry, Ghana Education Service (GES), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), CSSPS, or the Free SHS Secretariat.
“We urge the public to be vigilant and report any individuals attempting to extort money under the guise of Ministry officials, GES, TVETs, CSSPS, or FSHS. All fraudulent activity should be reported immediately to security agencies,” the statement emphasized.
Support Systems in Place
To assist candidates and families, the ministry noted that its call centres and resolution centres will be activated on September 16, a day after placement results are published.
These centres will provide guidance and help resolve any placement-related issues.
Stakeholders are encouraged to follow official updates and avoid misinformation circulating on social media.
