The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled a dedicated portal— https://irreg.waecgh.org/ —to assist students whose Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results have been cancelled or withheld due to suspected irregularities.
The move is part of WAEC’s broader effort to enhance transparency and accountability in its examination processes.
According to a blog post sighted by Coleman Publications, candidates whose subject grades are marked with ‘W’ (withheld) or ‘*’ (cancelled) are advised to visit the portal for updates and case tracking.
The Irregularity Reporting & Investigation System is designed exclusively for BECE candidates and offers a secure, user-friendly interface for managing and investigating examination malpractices.
The portal provides two login options: one for schools, requiring an email and password, and another for candidates, who must input their index number, date of birth, and year of examination.
Through this system, students, parents, and school administrators can access real-time data and insights on the status of reported irregularities.
According to WAEC, the platform consolidates all malpractice cases in one place, enabling advanced search, filtering, and analytics for smarter decision-making.
The initiative is part of WAEC’s commitment to ensuring fairness and restoring confidence in the BECE process.
To access the portal, candidates should visit https://irreg.waecgh.org and select the “Candidate Login” option.
They will be required to enter their:
- Index Number
- Date of Birth
- Year of Examination
Once logged in, students can view the status of any reported irregularities related to their results.
Schools also have a separate login section that requires an email and password to manage cases on behalf of their students.
This year’s BECE saw participation from 603,328 candidates—297,250 males and 306,078 females—from 20,395 Junior High Schools across Ghana.
An additional 1,661 private candidates also sat for the exams.
The Ashanti Region recorded the highest number of candidates (119,354), followed by Greater Accra (111,700) and the Central Region (67,146).
To ensure the integrity of the exams, WAEC, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), deployed 2,237 supervisors, 2,016 assistant supervisors, and 21,206 invigilators across 2,237 centres nationwide.
The BECE for School and Private Candidates was conducted from June 11 to June 18, 2025.
While the release date for provisional results remains pending, WAEC has assured the public that the national results will be made available in the shortest possible time.
