The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, while candidates were writing their first major paper—Social Studies—at the Burma Camp-based examination centre.

WAEC officials discovered the device in Mr. Amoah’s possession, allegedly containing solved questions from the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to preliminary findings, the phone held materials from previously administered papers, including Oral English and Picture Making.

Although those papers had already been written, WAEC suspects potential misconduct and has launched an investigation into the matter.

The Examination Centre Supervisor has been directed to submit a formal report detailing the circumstances under which the invigilator brought a phone into the exam hall—a direct violation of WAEC’s strict regulations on examination conduct.

WAEC has reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of the WASSCE and warned that any breach of protocol will be met with swift disciplinary action.
