AAMUSTED Takes Over Full Mentorship of Eight TVET Colleges of Education

Eight TVET CoEs Transition to AAMUSTED Mentorship

The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has assumed the full responsibility of mentoring Eight Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges of Education (CoEs) that were previously under the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

This move is part of the government’s strategy to enhance the quality of TVET education in Ghana, driving industrialization and job creation.

Eight TVET CoEs Transition to AAMUSTED Mentorship

The eight CoEs now under AAMUSTED’s mentorship include:

  • Ada College of Education, Ada Foah
  • College of Education, Akatsi
  • St. John Bosco College of Education, Navrongo
  • Wiawso College of Education, Sefwi-Wiawso
  • Bagabaga College of Education, Tamale
  • Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education, Wa
  • Mampong Technical College of Education, Asante Mampong
  • Komenda College of Education, Komenda

Formalization of Partnership

On December 22, 2023, AAMUSTED and the eight CoEs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Accra, overseen by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

The four-year agreement underscores AAMUSTED’s commitment to supporting the development of these TVET CoEs.

AAMUSTED’s selection as mentor followed a rigorous evaluation process conducted by GTEC, assessing the university’s capabilities and readiness for this responsibility.

AAMUSTED emerged as the suitable candidate, possessing a strong track record and a mandate focused on TVET and entrepreneurship education.

Smooth Transition for Students

While AAMUSTED now mentors’ students from level 100 to level 400 at the eight CoEs, a seamless transition has been implemented to ensure continuity for current students.

Level 300 and 400 students will continue to have their results processed through UEW, and AAMUSTED will conduct their end-of-semester exams, submitting scores to UEW for their final results and certification.

Therefore, level 300 and 400 trainees in these colleges of education should note that their results and other necessary documents remain unchanged.

They will receive their four-year bachelor’s degree certificate from UEW upon successful completion of their programme.
