According to the information received, the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has made a disbursement of three months’ allowance to trainees.
Unfortunately, due to the new policy that entails a reduction in the teacher trainees’ allowance, they are only receiving a meager three months’ worth of allowance for the entire first semester of the 2022/2023 academic year.
It is disheartening to note that the said amount paid, which used to be GHC 600.00, has now been decreased to GHC 447.00 (GHC149.00 X3)

Furthermore, it is essential for trainees to be aware of the change in the duration of a semester. It has now been shortened to three months instead of the previous four months.
And teacher trainees will now be paid for 6(six) months in a year instead of the 8 (eight)
Trainees are advised to visit their bank as soon as possible to check if the reduced allowance paid has reflected in their account.

Undoubtedly, the reduction in the Teacher Trainees’ allowance has come as a shock to many trainees who were relying on it to support themselves through their studies.
