Many trainees are currently left in the dark about whether their allowances will be paid for this academic year or face cancellation.
This unrest stems from the recent call by prominent personalities urging the government to divert funds from allowances towards infrastructure development for colleges.
The possibility of the government accepting this proposal has sparked doubts and left trainees unsure of the future status of their allowances.
However, in an attempt to shed light on the situation, a representative from the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) addressed the issue on Monday, 22nd May 2023 in an interaction with our News Team.
She revealed that there haven’t been any official instructions to cancel the allowances, and hence, trainees should not worry.
The representative further stated that the SLTF would start disbursing funds to teacher trainees as soon as funds arrive.
She also encouraged trainees to stay calm and keep their fingers crossed as their stipends will reach them at the right time.
