The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Gbewaa College of Education, led by President Mbillah Ibrahim Mubarak, has donated a 5000-litre polytank to the college in an effort to address the ongoing water shortage on campus.
Speaking on the donation, Mubarak emphasised the importance of the Polytank, stating that it is intended to serve as an additional water storage facility to complement the existing reservoirs on campus.
He further expressed optimism that the intervention would gradually resolve the water crisis at the College.
According to him, the SRC recognises the urgency of the situation and is committed to ensuring the well-being of the student body.
In a conversation with Coleman Publications, Mubarak revealed that the donation is part of a larger effort by the SRC to improve various aspects of their college life, including education, health, sports, entertainment, and administration.
Acknowledging the severity of the water shortage, he noted that the SRC, in collaboration with college management, has initiated measures to identify alternative water sources. As part of this initiative, a borehole is currently undergoing mechanisation to provide a sustainable solution to the water challenges facing students and staff.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the College, Dr. Emmanuel Azuugah, the Vice Principal of the College, expressed his sincere gratitude to the SRC, calling the initiative “unprecedented” and acknowledging its potential impact on alleviating the water shortage.
“We are very grateful for this thoughtful gesture from you,” Dr. Azuugah stated, adding, “We pray that this will go a long way to alleviate the water crisis on campus.”
He also jokingly alluded to further support from the SRC in the future. Currently, students and staff are eagerly awaiting the completion of the borehole mechanisation, hoping for a long-term resolution to the crisis
