Teacher trainees in the 46 public colleges of education have expressed their dissatisfaction with the significant reduction in their monthly allowances, specifically the portion directly paid onto their cards by the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).
Previously receiving GHC 200.00, trainees are now receiving only GHC 149.00, leaving a difference of GHC 51.00.
Out of the difference, GHC 4.00 is deducted as their TTAG Dues, with the remaining balance(GHc 47.00) being sent to the National Conference of the Principals of the Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) as their feeding component top-up.
Understandably, trainees recognize that they have little power in reversing the reduction issue.
However, they are calling upon PRINCOF to take action and focus on improving both the quantity and quality of the meals provided to them and possibly bring back their ‘old menus’
Trainees, who have reached out to Coleman Publications, expressed their concern that while they may not be able to change the financial deductions they face, they hope to see these reductions seamlessly reflected in the meals they are served.

The demand is clear: teacher trainees seek a reinstatement of their old menus, which offered a greater variety and higher quality of meals.
They believe that by increasing the quantity and improving the overall quality of their meals, PRINCOF can compensate for the reduction in their allowances.
However, some have also opined that the prices of goods and services are on the rise, and it will be very difficult for principals to do much about the quantity and quality of meals served.
