Komenda College of Education suspends two students over assault and ‘identity fraud’

Two Level 100 students of Komenda College of Education have been indefinitely suspended for their role in an assault incident involving a stranger at the premises of Komenda Senior High and Technical School—a neighbouring institution that shares a close geographical and communal relationship with the College.

The suspended students, identified as Nicholas Sarfo Eshun of Formidable Hall and Livingstone Sadat Jampana of Indomitable Hall, were found culpable by the College’s Disciplinary Committee after investigations confirmed their involvement in the altercation.

Komenda Senior High and Technical School, being the only SHS in Komenda and situated near the College, serves as a hub where students from both schools frequently interact.

The SHS students occasionally visit the College for basic supplies, while some teacher trainees also stop by the SHS premises for various purposes—making respectful conduct between institutions critical.

According to the suspension letters signed by the Vice Principal, Dr. Theophilus Kweku Bassaw, the students were involved in “physical assault on a stranger on the premises of Komenda Secondary Technical School” and “providing a false identity to the authorities of the aforementioned school.”

The letters further cited “refusing to bring your parents upon invitation by the Vice Principal of the College for clarification and accountability regarding the incident” as an additional breach.

“This conduct constitutes a gross violation of the College’s Code of Conduct and falls far below the behavioural expectations of a student enrolled in a professional teacher training programme,” the letter stated.

Effective immediately, the students are barred from entering all College facilities, including academic, residential, and administrative areas.

They are also prohibited from participating in any academic or extracurricular activities affiliated with the College.

Dr. Bassaw emphasised that reinstatement will only be considered upon “a written petition and satisfactory engagement with the College’s disciplinary processes.”

He added, “This action is taken to uphold the integrity and safety of the academic environment and to send a clear message regarding the seriousness with which such misconduct is regarded.”

In a broader warning to the student body, the College urged all trainees to maintain professionalism and decorum on and off campus, especially given the institution’s mandate to train future educators whose conduct should reflect integrity and respect.

“This action is taken to uphold the integrity and safety of the academic environment and to send a clear message regarding the seriousness with which such misconduct is regarded”, the letter concluded.
