Under the indefinite strike action by CETAG and CENTSAG, the leadership of TTAG has made several follow-ups on the series of meetings held between the actors for and on behalf of the government and the striking bodies with keen interest but it is sad and disappointing to note that no headway has been made as of the nearing two weeks into the strike.
It is imperative to state that the leadership has pitched in severally to help get back the membership of the striking bodies at the post in as much as their leadership is being engaged in several discussions but no fruition has been made. We share in these sorry – days of trainees and understand how bewildering it is, especially when meals are not provided and the innocent trainee is in destitute scuffles to survive on campus.
TTAG has however been notified of another meeting to be held today November 23 2022, between the National Labour Commission and the two striking bodies i.e., CETAG and CENTSAG. Instead of that, TTAG would want to once again appeal to all parties that :
- The good interest of the teacher trainee should be at the center of the discussion.
- In the circumstances where committal compromise can be made by either side, such a path should be advanced halfway to aid in bringing finality to all the stifle differences that have prolonged issues.
We(TTAG) would seize this opportunity to inform all trainees that processes have been far advanced with the payment of the outstanding months of the allowance. Once again, as leaders who are poised and ever-ready to champion the interest of teacher trainees, all we ask of our dear constituents is continuous forbearance in these trying times.
Yours faithfully,
