The Principal of Komenda College of Education, Very Reverend Kwesi Nkum Wilson (Ph.D.), has received high commendation from the leadership and executive members of the Ghana Home Economics Association (GHEA), and other stakeholders in the Home Economics arena for his outstanding efforts in modernizing the college’s Home Economics Department.
The principal has provided students with excellent resources for practical learning by equipping the department with state-of-the-art tools and equipment.

During the Launching and Inauguration of the Komenda Home Economics Students Association (HESAK) on Wednesday, 26th July 2023, the Vice Chairperson for GHEA and Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Home Economics Education-UEW, Madam Kutum Comfort Madah, who was the Guest Speaker at the event expressed her surprise and admiration for the equipment acquired by the college.
As part of the event, dignitaries were given the opportunity to view the students’ works and exhibitions within the department, leaving them unable to contain their excitement.

They applauded the principal and his management team for their efforts in procuring such advanced equipment.
Madam Kutum Comfort Madah noted that many universities and technical institutions across the country struggle to boast the level of modernized equipment that Komenda College’s Home Economics Department possesses.

The Headmistress for Breman Assikuma SHS and Central Region Chairperson for the Ghana Home Economics Association (GHEA), Madam Sarah Baah-Odoom, was equally impressed by the measures implemented by the management of Komenda College of Education to elevate the status of Home Economics Education.

She, together with the other dignitaries emphasized the importance of the department utilizing these resources to generate income for the school and the newly launched association.
Madam Kutum Comfort Madah encouraged the Head of Department to seek out contracts and engage students in practical work, enabling them to enhance their skills while contributing to the financial growth of the College.

Without an iota of doubt, the acquisition of these advanced equipment demonstrates the college’s commitment to providing practical education in Ghana.
