Students’ Allowances Released After VP’s Promise

Dr. Alhaji Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, has fulfilled his promise to nursing trainees by ensuring the timely payment of their allowances (arrears).

This comes after the nursing trainees raised concerns about the non-payment of their allowances during his recent campaign tour in the Bono Region.

The Vice President vowed to address the issue upon his return to Accra.

It has been disclosed that allowances for nursing trainees have been disbursed as of May 16.

Screenshots circulating online and information received from some of the trainees show that payments have been made for the period of November to April.

However, Some of the nursing trainees also stated that they have yet to receive such messages.

The Vice President has emphasized that if trainees want to continue benefiting from the programme, they should elect him as the next President to safeguard their allowances in the future.

“Your allowances are a crucial part of your education,” said Dr. Bawumia. “We want to ensure that you have the resources you need to succeed in your training and provide quality healthcare to our communities.”

It should also be noted that, their counterparts in the colleges of education have not received any allowance since the commencement of their 2023/2024 academic year.

They have already completed their first semester and will be starting their second semester on June 2, 2024.
