How to Calculate GPA at UDS
To calculate the GPA at UDS, divide the Grade Points by the Total Credit Hours.
To illustrate how to calculate GPA at UDS, let’s use an example.
Suppose a student took three courses in a semester:
- Course 1: Earned a ‘B’ (3.0 Grade Points), 3 Credit Hours
- Course 2: Earned an ‘A’ (4.0 Grade Points), 4 Credit Hours
- Course 3: Earned a ‘C’ (2.0 Grade Points), 2 Credit Hours
1. Calculate Total Grade Points:
- Course 1: 3.0 Grade Points/Credit Hour * 3 Credit Hours = 9.0 Grade Points
- Course 2: 4.0 Grade Points/Credit Hour * 4 Credit Hours = 16.0 Grade Points
- Course 3: 2.0 Grade Points/Credit Hour * 2 Credit Hours = 4.0 Grade Points
- Total Grade Points = 9.0 + 16.0 + 4.0 = 29.0 Grade Points
2. Calculate Total Credit Hours:
- Total Credit Hours = 3 + 4 + 2 = 9 Credit Hours
3. Calculate GPA:
- GPA = Total Grade Points / Total Credit Hours = 29.0 / 9 = 3.22 (approximately)
- Therefore, the student’s GPA for that semester is approximately 3.22.
