To alleviate concerns among trainees in Colleges of Education, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, the Senior Presidential Advisor, has reassured that the government’s allowances for trainees will not be eliminated.
This affirmation comes amidst speculations that teacher trainee allowances might be eliminated as part of the IMF conditionality.
During the remarkable 175th-anniversary celebration of Akropong College of Education on July 1, 2023, Yaw Osafo-Maafo addressed the issue by emphasizing the commitment to maintain all allowances.
Despite the economic challenges faced by the government, which have necessitated their collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Osafo-Maafo ensured that none of the allowances introduced in the teaching profession would be impacted by the IMF program.
Acknowledging the potential concerns caused by the economic landscape and IMF collaboration, the Senior Presidential Advisor’s statement sought to alleviate any anxieties among trainees regarding the continuity of their allowances.
