The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that all withheld results from the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be released by Saturday, 6th September, 2025.

According to John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, the decision follows the completion of thorough investigations into suspected cases of examination malpractice and irregularities detected during the marking and verification processes.
“We are almost through with the necessary investigations regarding the 2025 BECE withheld cases. Those whose results were merely withheld for checks and confirmation will have them released by 6th September, 2025,” he stated.
However, WAEC has clarified that candidates whose results have been cancelled due to proven malpractice will not benefit from this release.
“Those who had their results canceled will have to wait until next year to register and write the BECE again in 2026,” Mr. Kapi emphasized.
WAEC’s confirmation of a release date ensures that affected candidates can now proceed with school placement procedures as scheduled once the results are available.
