Kofi Asare, the Executive Director at Africa Education Watch, has called on parents residing in urban areas to develop the habit of showing appreciation and support to their ward’s teachers.
In a recent post shared on Facebook, Mr. Asare highlighted the importance of motivating teachers, citing the practice of parents in rural areas who send plantains and bushmeat at the end of every term to show their appreciation.
According to Mr. Asare, these gestures of appreciation are essential in making teachers feel loved and valued for their hard work. He expressed his concern that such practices are not common in urban areas, and called on parents to make efforts to change this trend.
Mr. Asare suggested that parents in urban areas should try to make it a habit to give some monetary support, with a suggested amount of GH¢500.00 at the end of each term.

Furthermore, Mr. Asare emphasized the crucial role teachers play in shaping the lives and future of students. He believes that teachers who feel valued and appreciated are more likely to be motivated and dedicated to their work.
Therefore, he urged parents to start showing their support and appreciation to their ward’s teachers today.
