The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), has announced the introduction of a virtual learning programme for first-year students in Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS).

The initiative is designed to ensure continuous academic engagement for students, particularly those in double-track schools, who have already completed nine weeks of in-person learning this term.
To cover the remaining three weeks, lessons will now be broadcast on Channel MoE TV, available on Multi TV.
According to a circular issued by GES on August 29, 2025, the virtual lessons are scheduled to begin on Monday, September 1, 2025, and will run until Friday, September 19, 2025, airing daily from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In addition, students will have access to a full set of curriculum resources and textbooks through the online portal curriculumresources.edu.gh.
GES emphasized that access to the microsite is completely data-free, allowing all students to make use of the materials without incurring internet costs.
The Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services) of GES, Prof. Smile Dzisi, who signed the statement on behalf of the Acting Director-General, urged all Regional Directors to ensure the directive is effectively communicated to Metro, Municipal, and District Directors, as well as Heads of Senior High Schools.
School heads have further been tasked to notify Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) so parents can encourage their wards to participate fully in the virtual program.
“This intervention is to ensure that academic work continues smoothly and that students are adequately prepared despite the limited classroom time,” the statement noted.
The GES expressed optimism that with the cooperation of school authorities, parents, and students, the virtual learning initiative will be a success.
