The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the integrity of national examinations by announcing the dismissal of any staff who will be found engaging in examination malpractice during the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In a press release issued on July 25, 2025, by its Public Relations Unit, GES extended heartfelt wishes to WASSCE candidates across the country.
The Service commended their perseverance and urged students to approach the exams with confidence, focus, and integrity.
However, the message was paired with a resolute warning directed at personnel involved in administering the exams.
“The GES Council has approved the immediate dismissal of any teaching or non-teaching staff, invigilator, or supervisor caught engaging in examination malpractice,” stated Daniel Fenyí, Head of Public Relations.
The move comes amid growing concerns over exam-related misconduct in recent years, including unauthorised assistance to candidates, leaking of examination materials, and procedural violations.
GES stressed that no form of malpractice will be tolerated under the new directive. Students found violating examination rules will also face stringent penalties.
The statement emphasised that this decision is part of a broader initiative to restore trust in the national assessment framework and promote ethical educational standards.
GES cited the importance of protecting honest learners and preserving the credibility of Ghana’s education system in the eyes of local and international observers.
“Any act of collusion or compromise will attract dismissal from the Service. Exam personnel must carry out their duties with the highest level of professionalism and ethics,” the statement said.
GES has instructed Regional and District Directors to ensure strict enforcement of the policy across all exam centers.
All staff entrusted with examination supervision are being reminded of the trust placed in them and the potential consequences of betraying that trust.
In addition to enforcing sanctions, GES is encouraging public vigilance and community support in safeguarding the integrity of the exams.
“Together, let us uphold the integrity of our education system,”the release concluded, ending with a message of encouragement:“Best of luck to all WASSCE candidates. Ghana is proud of you.”
