In a decisive step to boost teacher education infrastructure, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has announced plans to complete seven long-stalled projects at St. Vincent College of Education in Yendi.
The announcement was made by GETFund Deputy Administrator, Hon. Alhasan Sualihu Dandaawa, on behalf of the Fund’s Administrator, Mr. Paul Adjei, during the college’s 5th Graduation Ceremony held on September 7, 2025.
The projects, many of which have been abandoned since 2017, are expected to transform the college’s teaching and learning environment once completed.
According to GETFund, the approved works include:

Multipurpose Lecture Hall with Offices | Expanded lecture capacity and administrative support |
Principal’s Bungalow | On-campus residence for administrative head |
Administration Block | Centralized academic and administrative operations |
Road and Drainage Services + Furniture | Improved campus mobility and comfort |
Hon. Dandaawa emphasized that explicit financial provisions have been made in the 2025 GETFund distribution formula to ensure timely completion of the projects, reaffirming the Fund’s renewed commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps in teacher training institutions.
The graduation ceremony also celebrated the achievements of 222 graduating students.
Obeng Asante David was named Valedictorian and Outstanding Teacher of the JHS Division.
In his address, David pledged the graduating class’s dedication to advancing the college’s mission of transforming rural learners into visionary leaders capable of reshaping their communities and beyond.

Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Clement Apaak, who graced the event, confirmed that the Ministry has finalized discussions with GETFund to formalize a partnership ensuring the completion of teacher education infrastructure nationwide.
He underscored that the initiative aligns with the President John Mahama-led administration’s broader vision to enhance basic and senior high school teacher preparation.
In his address, the college’s Principal, Prof. Nashiru Sulemana, along with other dignitaries, urged the new graduates to become torchbearers in revitalizing educational standards, stressing that the future of Ghana’s education system depends on well-prepared, passionate, and innovative teachers.
