The Ghana Education Service (GES) released a statement on 28th August, 2023 regarding the alleged assault that took place at Nkwatia Presby Senior High School on 14th August, 2023
According to reports, a student identified as Diana was assaulted by the Assistant Headmaster (Academics) of the school on the basis that she went out of the school premises without permission.

The GES has condemned the actions of the Assistant Headmaster, stating that he was supposed to ensure that students and teachers operate in a safe school environment.
According to GES, the Eastern Regional Director of Education is currently working with the school authorities and law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter to the core.
In the meantime, the Assistant Headmaster has been relieved of his duties, and the student is receiving medical care and counseling.

The GES has also assured the general public that they are committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students across the country.
