The Ministry of Education is currently participating in a mid-year performance review session with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, aimed at evaluating sector-wide progress and shaping policy direction for the rest of the year.

The session, which commenced on Tuesday, August 5, is expected to conclude on Friday, August 8. It is being led by the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, with support from his deputy, Dr. Clement Apaak.
Agencies under the Ministry — including the Ghana Education Service (GES), National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), National Teaching Council (NTC), Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and the Ghana Library Authority, among others — are making detailed presentations on achievements, ongoing projects, and sectoral challenges.

Hon. Iddrisu, in his opening remarks, reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to “expanding access, enhancing quality, and fostering innovation across all levels of education in Ghana.”
Dr. Apaak also fielded questions from members of the Committee during the interactive sessions.
The review aims to provide Parliament with up-to-date insights to inform budgetary and legislative decisions for the education sector.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the exercise, Hon. Iddrisu paid a visit to Oyoko Methodist Senior High School, where a fire incident occurred recently.

He assessed the extent of damage and assured the school community of immediate support from the Ministry.
“This is unfortunate, but the Ministry will act swiftly to ensure that academic work is not disrupted,” he assured during the visit.
