The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has announced the withdrawal of the subject “Our World Our People” from the Standards-Based curriculum in primary schools.
This decision will come into effect in the next academic year.
The Council stated that the decision was made after a critical review and comparison of the Religious and Moral Education (RME) and the Our World and Our People curricula.

The review revealed that there were similar sub-strands and focal areas in both subjects, leading to a repetition of knowledge.
Additionally, feedback from teachers also highlighted the overlap between the two curricula.
NaCCA hopes that this action will enrich the Standard-Based Curriculum and improve learners’ understanding, as teachers will now be able to focus on the individual strands captured in the Religious and Moral Education curriculum.
