The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has issued a statement urging its members to withdraw immediately from all Professional Learning Community (PLC) activities in schools.
The decision comes in response to what NAGRAT describes as the victimization and stress faced by teachers participating in PLC activities during their holidays.
In a statement addressed to the Ghana Education Service on 21st October, 2024, NAGRAT highlights the lack of clarity regarding teachers’ annual leave and the confusion surrounding PLC activities during holidays.

According to NAGRAT, some school administrators have implemented local measures to force teachers to participate in PLC activities during their holiday periods, leading to instances of salary embargoes for non-participation.
NAGRAT is calling on the Director General of the Ghana Education Service to provide clear policy directives on PLC activities and teachers’ statutory leave as prescribed by law.

Failure to address these issues may result in NAGRAT resorting to industrial action to push for their demands.
