Non-Professional Teachers to Lose Their Jobs In 3 Years To Come If They Refuse To Further Their Education – NCOPST

According to the Executive Director of the National Council of Private School Teachers (N-COPST), Mr. Ackon James, the non Professional Teachers who are licensed are advised to further their education to acquire a Degree in Education to keep them in the teaching profession.

According to N-COPST Director, provisions have been made for all non Professional Teachers who have registered for the temporary license (Emergency Permit) to further their education with a flexible payment plan that will help them complete a 4-year degree program at the University

Also, provisions have been made for Teachers who do not qualify for temporary license. These are teachers who have NNTTC, NVTI, Montessori, A&O’ Level, BECE and JSS certificates

According to the Director, teachers who refuse to register for the license will face the law. Teachers are advised to get a copy of the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (1023) and read Section 79, under Employment of unregistered teachers through to Section 81, under Offense and Penalties

Mr. James Ackon congratulated a few school owners who have paid for their teacher’s licenses and encouraged more schools to do the same. He commended the school owners of Eagle Eye Universal Academy and E-Complex International School all in Obuasi for paying the license fee for their teachers

According to the Executive Director of N-COPST, school owners are to note that, they also play a vital role in the licensing of their teachers. In the Education Act, school owners are advised to read Section 78, subsection 1&2 under Employment of Registered Teachers to see for themselves the need to register their teacher’s license

Teachers are advised to do their part by registering for the license. They can register for the license and leave the payment of the license fee for their school to decide

To support all private school teachers, N-COPSTise looking at :

  1. Helping teachers to further their education to keep them in the teaching profession,
  2. assisting teachers who do not have Certificate to acquire one, and
  3. assisting teachers to keep their jobs,

Due to the above, there is the need for all private school teachers to register on council’a website for free and subscribe for benefits.
