In a formal update dated August 15, 2025, NAHSAG revealed that although the Ministry has fulfilled its financial obligation, thousands of eligible trainees have yet to receive their allowances due to administrative bottlenecks and verification delays.

Background and Ministry Engagement

On August 14, NAHSAG’s General Secretary, Poru Cosmos, led a delegation to the Ministry of Health for a high-level meeting with the Health Training Institutions Secretariat.

The delegation presented a comprehensive list of over 10,000 trainees who had submitted their details but remain unpaid.

The Ministry acknowledged receipt of the funds and commended NAHSAG for its proactive efforts.

However, officials emphasized that the submitted data must undergo a rigorous school-by-school verification process before disbursement can proceed.

This is to ensure the removal of ghost names, correction of errors, and validation of legitimate beneficiaries.

 Verification Process Underway

NAHSAG has since mobilized presidents of its member associations and is working closely with Student Representative Councils (SRCs) and school administrators nationwide to expedite the verification exercise.

The association stressed that the cooperation of trainees and institutional heads is crucial to completing the process swiftly.

“This marks a new phase in our efforts to resolve the issue,” NAHSAG stated in its release. “We are confident that with your cooperation and the Ministry’s commitment, this issue will be resolved once and for all.”

Trainees Express Frustration

Many affected students have expressed growing frustration over the delay, citing financial hardship and lack of communication.

Some have called for greater transparency and accountability from both the Ministry and school authorities.

 NAHSAG’s Commitment

NAHSAG has pledged to continue its advocacy and provide timely updates until all eligible trainees receive their allowances.
