Recruitment: GES PRO addresses concerns of 2023 trained teachers

Share:

In response to growing anxiety among 2023 graduates of Colleges of Education regarding their posting timelines, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has reaffirmed that the recruitment process remains automatic and consistent with previous years.

The assurance came from the GES Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Daniel Fenyi, in reply to a public inquiry on social media.

Question

The query was posed by Boakye Asare Prescord, a former SRC General Secretary of SDA College of Education, Asokore-Koforidua, and former Deputy General Secretary of TTAG-Eastern and Greater Accra Sector.

Prescord’s respectful plea, posted on August 2, emphasised that the tradition of automatic postings after national service should not be disrupted.

He called on the GES to clarify the timeline for the 2023 batch, citing recent fears and misinformation circulating among trainee teachers.

“We believe that knowing the exact timeline would greatly assist us in planning and preparing for the upcoming academic year,” he wrote.

Boakye Asare Prescord: Good day, Honorable Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service.

I am Boakye Asare Prescord a former SRC General Secretary of SDA College of Education, Asokore Koforidua, and the former Deputy General Secretary of Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana Eastern and Greater Accra Sector (TTAG-EGA Sector).

I would like to begin by expressing my respect and appreciation for the tireless efforts of the Ghana Education Service in ensuring that our educational system continues to thrive.

As we approach the posting of the 2023 batch of Colleges of Education graduates, I humbly request that we put aside any recent controversies, such as the picketing by a certain group, and focus on the matter at hand.

We are all aware, the tradition of posting teachers from Colleges of Education has been an automatic process every year. This year should be no exception. The Education Minister has also said that 50,000 teachers are going to be recruited this year.

Given this understanding, our primary concern and question revolve around the timeline for the commencement of the posting process. Could you kindly provide us with information on when we can expect the posting process to begin? We believe that knowing the exact timeline would greatly assist us in planning and preparing for the upcoming academic year.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Clarification

Responding candidly, the GES PRO stated, “Your postings are automatic, bro, as you said and as we all know.”

He highlighted that the Minister for Finance had captured the recruitment in the national budget, and both the Ministry of Education and the GES had confirmed plans for recruitment.

“Why do you want this year to be different?” he questioned. “Once you complete, you’ll be there, and the portal will be opened for you to be posted. This has never been done any other way.”

The PRO also addressed concerns over rumours circulating among teacher trainees. He expressed disappointment over individuals who, he believes, may be spreading unfounded fears to stir anxiety.

“Some of your people are sending fears, untruths, and scaring your colleagues… intentionally,” he noted.

GES Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Daniel Fenyi: Your postings are automatic bro, as you said and as we all know. Minister for Finance captured it in the budget. Both Ministry of Education and GES (I personally wrote that release) have confirmed it. All the years, what happens is, once you complete, you’ll be there and the portal will be opened for you to be posted.

Why do you want this year to be different? You want us to first announce a timeline/deadline, and then later open the portal. This has never been done. Why do you want this year alone to be different? You completed your national service in February 2025, this year and we know you’ll be posted.

Why is some of your people sending fears, untruths, and scaring your colleagues. I’m beginning to feel some of your people are intentionally doing that to make your batch CoE feel scared. Anaa?

While a specific date for portal activation was not provided, the GES PRO’s statement reiterates that there is no deviation from the standard procedure, and postings will follow established protocols.

For many graduates eagerly awaiting their placements, this exchange offers reassurance that the recruitment pipeline remains intact, with systemic processes soon to kick in as they have year after year.
