Enoch Amponsah, a 28-year-old teacher at Roy International School in Kpong-West Quarters, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison with hard labour for defiling an 8-year-old pupil in his class.
The Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court in the Eastern Region handed down the sentence after Amponsah pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement.
The court heard that the victim attended weekend classes at the school on October 19, 2023, when the incident occurred.

After the classes, Amponsah sent the victim to his office to retrieve his laptop and then followed her, removing her panties and engaging in sexual intercourse with her.
He warned the victim not to tell anyone or face punishment.
The following day, Amponsah lured the victim to his house adjacent to the school and again had sexual intercourse with her on a mat.
He repeated the act on November 4, 2023, causing the victim pain that raised her mother’s suspicions.

Detective Chief/Insp Dan Apedo, prosecuting, told the court that the victim’s mother reported the incident, leading to Amponsah’s arrest and subsequent guilty plea.
The sentence of 12 years in prison with hard labour was handed down by His Honour, Kwase Apiatse Abaidoo, presiding over the case.
