Timetable, guidelines & rules for 2025 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) for final year students

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has released the official timetable and guidelines for the upcoming Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE), scheduled for October 2025.

This year’s examination for the final year students, which falls under the new GTLE reforms, is designed to ensure that prospective teachers meet the required professional standards before entering the classroom.

GTLE 2025 Timetable

According to the NTC, the examination will be held as follows:

Indexing Process

Before registration, candidates are required to complete the indexing process to verify their details.

To do so, final-year students must:

  • Check if their data has been uploaded by their training institution.
  • Pay an indexing fee of GH₵50.00.

Only indexed candidates will be permitted to proceed with registration for the GTLE.

Registration Process and Deadline

  • Eligible candidates are to register on the GTLE registration portal at https://exams.ntc.gov.gh/ and select new registration
  • Registration requires the use of an active email address and phone number/ voucher details.
  • Payment of the examination fee (Voucher) can be made through any branch of Prudential Bank Ghana or by using the mobile money platform by dialing *772*51# 
  • The deadline for registration for the final year students is Saturday, 28th September 2025.

Pass Mark

Candidates must obtain a minimum pass mark of 52% in each paper to qualify for certification.

Examination Rules

The NTC has emphasised that all candidates must strictly adhere to the following rules:

  • Candidates must report to the examination centre at least one hour before the paper begins.
  • Valid national ID cards (Ghana Card) and the GTLE index number slips are required for admission into the examination hall.
  • The use of unauthorised materials, electronic devices, or engaging in any form of malpractice will result in immediate disqualification. (However, calculators are permitted)
  • No candidate will be allowed to write without prior registration and indexing.

The NTC has urged all final-year students and prospective teachers to take the process seriously, prepare adequately, and abide by the rules governing the examination.
