The University of Cape Coast (UCC), through its Institute of Education, has officially announced the opening of applications for the 9th cohort of its 3-Semester Bachelor of Education (Post-Diploma in Basic Education) Sandwich Programme.
This programme forms part of a national effort, undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), to ensure continuous professional development and academic progression for in-service teachers nationwide.

Scheduled to commence on 27th July 2025, the programme is specifically designed for holders of the Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) who wish to upgrade their credentials to a Bachelor of Education degree.
With the application window open until 11th July 2025, qualified teachers are encouraged to submit their applications online via https://topup.ucc.edu.gh/apply
The initiative embraces a blended learning model, combining online learning with face-to-face instructional sessions.
As part of this flexible approach, admitted students are expected to have access to a smartphone, tablet, or any internet-enabled device to fully participate in online lessons and assessments.
This format ensures that working teachers can balance professional duties with academic advancement.
Who Can Apply
Eligibility for the programme is strictly limited to candidates who have successfully passed the DBE examinations or hold a valid DBE certificate.
UCC has emphasized that there is no fee required before completing the online application form.
Once applications are submitted and reviewed, qualified applicants will be automatically enrolled in their programme of choice, based on the subject area and preferred study centre indicated during the application process.

Three specialisations are available under the top-up programme:
- B.Ed. (Post-Diploma) in Early Childhood Education

- B.Ed. (Post-Diploma) in Junior High School (JHS) Education
