Unpaid Allowances: TTAG Advises Trainees on Next Steps

The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) has issued a statement regarding the recent disbursement of two months’ worth of allowances to teacher trainees by the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) on June 3, 2024.

TTAG expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and the SLTF for their efforts in facilitating the disbursement.

However, the association noted that some trainees have yet to receive their allowances.

For those who have not received payment, TTAG advised the following steps:

“We urge trainees who have not yet received their allowance components from the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) to re-visit the allowance coordinators in their various colleges to ensure that their details are properly submitted,”

TTAG also urged the affected trainees to remain calm as disbursements are still ongoing and their payments will be processed as soon as their corrected details are submitted.

Finally, the association called on the government to promptly settle all the outstanding arrears to alleviate the financial burden faced by teacher trainees.

“we humbly request that the remaining arrears be settled as soon as possible to ease the continuous financial burden of the Teacher Trainees”
