The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has declared an indefinite strike starting October 10, 2024, across all 15 branches.
This decision comes after Organized Labour suspended its planned strike scheduled for the same date.

The National Executive Council (NEC) of UTAG conducted a referendum involving all 15 Member Branches, with 2,762 members casting their votes.
An overwhelming majority of 77.95% voted in favour of supporting a nationwide ban on mining and prospecting for gold and other minerals in forest reserves, farmlands, and rivers.
Following the referendum results, the NEC invoked Article XIX, Clause 5 of the UTAG Constitution and unanimously declared an immediate indefinite strike starting on October 10, 2024.

All UTAG members are required to adhere to this decision until the government officially announces a ban on mining activities in protected areas.
