The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has disclosed that it is committed to releasing all outstanding results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) by February 28, 2025.
The announcement, made in a recent press conference held in Accra, follows a period of controversy surrounding the withholding of results for candidates suspected of involvement in examination malpractice.
John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, assured the public that the council is dedicated to thorough investigation and transparency in handling the matter.
“The Council has continued its hearing for the affected candidates and has been releasing results as appropriate,” Kapi stated.
“The Council wishes to assure all stakeholders that all cases of malpractices will be finalized and also results released by February 28.”

This development comes after a recent High Court ruling on January 30th, which ordered WAEC to release the withheld results of 10,520 candidates represented by four students.
The students’ legal counsel, Martin Kpebu, successfully argued that WAEC failed to provide sufficient detail regarding the alleged malpractices.
WAEC has since filed for a stay of execution, scheduled to be heard on February 20th, aiming to complete its investigations before adhering to the court’s order.
