The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reported a number of malpractices in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) across the country.
According to the council, irregularities such as foreign materials found on candidates, smuggling of mobile phones and electronic gadgets into examination halls, syndicate cheating, impersonation, and others have been recorded so far.
Speaking at a news briefing in Accra, Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, said that WAEC will stop at nothing to ensure that the system is sanitized.

He added that eradicating examination malpractice is a shared responsibility, and no WAEC staff will intimidate a candidate in the examination hall.
Kapi also stated that some arrests have been made, and investigations into other cases are underway.
The council is taking these malpractices seriously and will do everything in its power to ensure that the integrity of the WASSCE examinations is maintained.

Students are reminded that cheating is not only a violation of the rules but also undermines the value of their education.
WAEC has urged all students to adhere to the rules and regulations of the examination and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
