The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced that first-year university students enrolled in accredited diploma or degree programmes at any public tertiary institution in the country will start receiving their academic user fee reimbursements in June.
This initiative is part of the government’s “No-Fees-Stress” policy, aimed at easing financial burdens on students pursuing higher education.
In an official statement, Dr. Saajida Shiraz, Chief Executive Officer of the SLTF, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to investing in Ghana’s human capital through this policy.
She emphasized that the reimbursement programme reflects the John Dramani Mahama administration’s commitment to ensuring greater access to tertiary education and reducing financial constraints for students.
“In a significant step towards alleviating financial hardships faced by first-year students, the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) is set to reimburse academic user fees under the No-Fees-Stress policy,” Dr. Shiraz stated.
Eligible students are required to apply for their reimbursement through the designated online portal: No-Fees-Stress Application Portal.
The application process includes validating student data against official admission records from participating public tertiary institutions.
“Applications will be validated against admission data from associated public tertiary institutions,” Dr. Shiraz explained. “We urge all first-year students to apply promptly to secure their reimbursement.”
The No-Fees-Stress policy is designed to remove financial barriers to higher education, making tertiary studies more accessible to qualified students across Ghana.
The SLTF anticipates a high volume of applications and encourages students to submit their requests early to ensure timely processing and prompt reimbursement.
