GES Announces 2025 Study Leave With Pay Subject Areas and Guidelines

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the approved subject areas and eligibility conditions for its 2025 Study Leave With Pay programme, providing a strategic opportunity for employees to further their education while continuing to earn their salary.

Approved Subject Areas and Allocation

GES has categorized the approved subjects into three allocation bands to guide applicant priorities:

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for Study Leave With Pay, GES employees must meet several criteria, including:

  • A minimum of three years of satisfactory service
  • Additional eligibility for staff serving in deprived areas for at least two years
  • Non-professional graduates must serve one year before applying for PGDE programmes
  • Staff returning from secondment must serve two years prior to applying
  • Re-engaged staff must complete five years of service before eligibility
  • Applicants must not exceed age limits relative to course duration (e.g., staff aged 55+ may apply for only 1–2 year programmes)
  • Must demonstrate good conduct, performance, and receive supervisor recommendation

 Application Procedure

Interested staff must:

  • Collect application forms from their respective Metro/Municipal/District Education Offices
  • Submit four copies of completed forms along with certified certificates
  • Route applications through their Head of Institution to their Regional Director
  • Ensure submissions reach GES HRMD Headquarters by Friday, 31st October 2025
