The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the commencement of the 2025 inter-regional and inter/intra-district reposting process for its staff.

In a letter dated April 23, 2025, addressed to all Regional, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education, the GES outlined the procedures, timelines, and requirements for staff seeking reposting across different educational jurisdictions.

According to the letter, the process for staff obtaining their assurance remains unchanged. The issuance of assurance letters is also set to begin on Friday, May 2, 2025, and will conclude on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Regional directors have been tasked with compiling and forwarding a list of all staff members granted assurance to the GES Headquarters in Accra.

The deadline for submission of completed applications is June 3, 2025. The GES emphasised that documents received after this deadline will not be accepted.

Processing of inter-regional reposting applications will commence on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, with reposting decisions taking effect at the beginning of the next academic year in September 2025

Inter-Regional Reposting Process

  1. The applicant seeks assurance from their preferred region through their Metro/Municipal/District Director of Education.
  2. After securing the assurance letter, the applicant applies for a release from their current Metro/Municipal/District Education Office.
  3. The Metro/Municipal/District Director prepares a covering letter and the applicant completes an inter-regional transfer form while attaching necessary documents (current payslip, assurance letter, certificates, bank clearance, etc.).
  4. The documents are forwarded to the Regional Education Office for onward submission to the Director-General for final approval.
  5. Upon approval by the Director-General, the Regional Director issues a release letter to complete the reposting process.
  6. Teachers can only be released after final authorisation from the Director-General.

Inter-District Reposting Process

  1. The applicant seeks assurance of vacancy from their preferred Metro/Municipal/District within the region.
  2. Upon receiving the assurance letter, the applicant submits a request for release from their current Metro/Municipal/District, attaching relevant documents (current payslip, assurance letter, certificates, bank clearance, etc.).
  3. The Metro/Municipal/District Director recommends the applicant’s release to the Regional Director.
  4. The documents are forwarded to the Regional Education Office for final approval.
  5. Once approval is granted, the applicant’s current Metro/Municipal/District Director and school heads are informed accordingly.
  6. Teachers can only be released after final authorization from the Regional Director.

Intra-District Reposting Process

  1. The applicant writes to the Metro/Municipal/District Director, indicating their willingness to transfer within the district.
  2. The applicant must attach necessary documents, including a current payslip, a personal records form, certificates, and bank clearance.
  3. The Metro/Municipal/District Director reviews the request and gives final approval if all requirements are met.

The letter, signed by Angela Frim Nkansah (Ms.), Director, HRMD, emphasised that staff can only be released after obtaining formal approval from the Director-General.

The management concluded by expressing confidence in the cooperation of all education directors in ensuring a smooth reposting process for the 2025/2026 academic year.
